Using Our Camera in Other Programs

Our camera is a virtual camera. If you are unfamiliar with virtual cameras, you can check out What is a Virtual Camera?

Using Our Camera in Other Programs

Our camera is a Microsoft-certified standard camera, used by millions of users worldwide. Since it allows custom resolution and video formats, it theoretically has better compatibility than hardware cameras. Any program that can use a hardware camera can use our camera.

Due to various reasons, some programs may not work properly with our camera or may not achieve the desired results (e.g., video cropping, stretching, black borders, inability to display full screen, or lack of clarity).

Please note that this is not an issue with our camera but rather a problem with the program using the camera or other external factors.

For software that users frequently inquire about, we have written some tutorials based on our testing. However, we cannot guarantee their effectiveness, as usage environments and software versions may vary. These tutorials are for reference only, and specific usage should be studied independently.

Some Common Questions
Does your camera support a specific program or emulator?

This is the wrong question. There is no issue of our camera supporting a specific program. We are a standard camera, and as long as the program itself works properly and is not intentionally unsupported, any program that uses a camera can use our camera.

Why can’t a specific program or emulator use your camera?

First, ensure that our camera driver is working properly (e.g., it can play in AMCap). If not, please refer to the last item in the FAQs:

  • Driver issue? Device disabled? Prompt to reinstall the program (Please reinstall xxx)?

If our camera works in other programs but not in this specific program, please refer to the following in the FAQs:

  • Camera list is empty or some cameras are missing when playing the camera?
  • How to make a program use our camera?

If the program can select our camera but cannot use it properly, set an appropriate resolution (e.g., 1280 x 720, 1920 x 1080, 640 x 480) and frame rate (e.g., 25fps, 30fps) according to the program’s requirements, and change the output format to RGB24.

If it still doesn’t work, contact the program’s developer and report the issue.

Why is the video not clear or blurry?

Our camera supports custom resolution, so you can set it to output high-definition video. Use software like AMCap to check if the output video is high-definition.

However, no matter how high you set the resolution, some programs may not display high-definition video. This is because the program does not support high-definition video or has issues processing it. For example, if you set our camera to 1920 x 1080, some programs may scale it down to a lower resolution like 640 x 480, resulting in reduced clarity. This is beyond our control. Learn more…

Why is the video not displayed full screen? Why is it cropped, stretched, or distorted?

First, use software like AMCap to check if the output video from our camera is correct.

If the output video is not what you want, adjust the resolution and video scaling settings in our program to achieve the desired effect.

If the output video is correct but the display in another program is problematic, it may be because the program processes the video (e.g., stretching, cropping, adding black borders). This is beyond our control. You can adjust the default resolution and output format of our camera to better fit the program. Refer to the relevant software setup tutorials (WeCam | VCam | iVCam) or troubleshoot independently. Learn more…

Why is the video showing garbled colors or abnormal colors?

This is caused by a bug in the program. Try setting the output format of our camera to RGB24, and avoid using uncommon custom resolutions.

Summary

For issues encountered when using our camera in third-party programs, we will provide assistance to the best of our ability. However, please understand that this is not our responsibility or obligation, and we cannot research every program that uses our camera. Everything we need to say is covered here and in the relevant tutorials.

Please do not contact us for consultation on these issues, as we do not know more about these programs than you do. Thank you for your understanding.
